Description
This African hand printed barkcloth plant pot cover was handmade in East Sussex, using hand printed African fabric, Ugandan barkcloth and reclaimed hessian coffee sacks.
The delicately designed fabric was handprinted in Gambia by Musa Jeitah, a true cratfman. Musa creates the prints with intricate knots and natural indigoin dye. He is the only person in his village still using natural dyes, which are better for the environment.
The intricate design process means fabric is produced in small batches, no mass production.
The base is created with traditional Ugandan barkcloth, a natural and sustainable material. The bark is harvested from the native Mutuba tree, it’s beaten to produce a soft and fine textured cloth.
Finally the plant pot cover is lined with rustic reclaimed hessian coffee sacks.
The pots have versatility, brightening up house plants or handy storage baskets.
