I experienced significant burnout during my career in criminal and human rights law, and it began to show on my skin. In search of relief, I turned to holistic approaches, including cleaner eating and prioritising my overall wellbeing. I noticed a real improvement – not just in how I felt, but in how my skin looked and felt too.
This sparked a question: “if these principles could transform my health from the inside out, could I create skincare that did the same?” That curiosity and personal journey became the foundation of The Glowcery, a brand rooted in nourishment, integrity, and a holistic approach to skin and self-care.

Our first product was the Clean Greens Superfood Face Oil. I started with this because we wanted to create a simple skincare ritual that addressed dullness, dehydration, and the effects of burnout on the skin in just three drops.
It was about creating a nourishing product that delivered visible results on the skin, inclusive for all skin types and tones while celebrating the process of caring for yourself with nutrients.
Every product is crafted with nutrient-dense, fresh and pure ingredients, often cold-pressed or minimally processed to preserve potency. We focus on clean, science-backed formulations that deliver visible results.

Sustainability is central to our values, but the reality is as a small business you don’t yet have the resources to do everything; so, we focus on ingredients and packaging. We ensure that our packaging is recyclable and use nutrient-rich, responsibly-sourced ingredients that have been minimally processed. This keeps ingredients whole and potent and minimises environmental impact.

Having personally experienced burnout, one of my biggest challenges as a business owner has been ensuring I don’t fall into the same trap while building The Glowcery. While balance is important, when work needs to be done, it needs to be done, so finding the right in-between has been a constant learning curve. I’m getting better at it every day.
Running the business involves making both macro and micro decisions, from long-term strategy and product development to small, intentional choices in communication, packaging, and customer experience. I’ve noticed I move quicker and with more clarity when I’m in that flow state, which often comes after I’ve taken some time to rest.
