*Applications are now closed*

For the second time, we’re collaborating with Clear Channel UK to give trailblazing Black-owned businesses two weeks of out-of-home (OOH) advertising space.

Clear Channel Compass is an initiative born to boost opportunities for Black creators. If that’s you, then this is your chance to put your brand in front of high street shoppers. It’s your opportunity to get creative and run an impactful awareness campaign that can’t be ignored.

By partnering with Clear Channel UK on this exciting initiative, we’re amplifying the stories of Black creators and sowing the seeds for them to rise up. We’ve long been championing the incredible makers within the community – because their talents deserve greater recognition. This is a huge opportunity for both of us to break down the obstacles Black entrepreneurs face and connect them to anyone and everyone who needs their ideas, craftsmanship and ingenuity.

Talented makers deserve to see their name in lights. And the exposure that Clear Channel UK advertising space brings continues this momentum by introducing these businesses to new audiences and establishing front-of-mind relevance. It’s a step towards normalising Black-owned products in everyday lives.

What is OOH advertising?

Out-of-home advertising (OOH) is any visual advertising media found outside of the home. This can include billboards and signs, ads on street furniture like bus shelters or benches, in transit areas like airports or train stations, and place-based ad media like you might see at a stadium or in the cinema. These various formats account for thousands of locations and millions of screens around the world.

What’s so good about OOH advertising? You can’t miss it! They’re an important vehicle for the big, colourful messages you want to share about your business.

OOH is about more than sales, it’s about brand awareness. Above all, it gets people interested in who you are and what you do. Businesses who use it have found that it boosts other marketing channels, such as social media engagement, paid advertising and website traffic.

What are we looking for in applications?

We will judge all applications along the same criteria:

  • Impact – How would winning the advertising space drive your growth and positively impact your business?
  • Capacity – Do you have the means to appropriately manage the increased interest and/or be able to capitalise on the opportunities it brings
  • Uniqueness – What makes you different and stand out?

Give detail about your business and be thoughtful and specific about your goals.

How to apply

Applications are open until 17 March 2023. It’s free to enter and your application will be assessed by both the Jamii and Clear Channel UK teams.

There will be 10 winners, who will be contacted from 29 March 2023.

To be eligible, you must be a majority Black-owned business.

Winners will also become an official Jamii partner, listed amongst over 250 talented Black creators on the Jamii website.

You must supply your own artwork or work with Clear Channel UK’s Art Department to create the artwork that’s used. Design guidance is provided free of charge but any final artwork must be commissioned.

Once winners have been picked, there will be a consultation between the businesses, Clear Channel UK and Jamii to understand when and where it will be best for their campaigns to run. The campaigns of the selected businesses will then run across Clear Channel UK’s Adshel Live screens.
