APPLICATIONS CLOSED: WIN High Street Advertising Space To Level Up Your Brand

Calling all Black British creators and makers! We’ve collaborated with Clear Channel to give trailblazing black-owned businesses 2 weeks worth of out-of-home (OOH) advertising space.

Do you run a Black British-owned business? This is your chance to put your brand in front of high street shoppers. It’s your opportunity to get creative and run an impactful awareness campaign that can’t be ignored.

Clear Channel Adshel Live Screens

By partnering with Clear Channel on this exciting initiative, we’re amplifying the stories of Black creators and sowing the seeds for them to rise up. We’ve long been championing the incredible makers within the community – because their talents deserve greater recognition. This is a huge opportunity for both of us to break down the obstacles black entrepreneurs face and connect them to anyone and everyone who needs their ideas, craftsmanship and ingenuity.

We saw during the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement last year that when black makers are given the platforms they deserve, it benefits everyone: creator, community and customer. And the exposure that Clear Channel advertising space brings continues this momentum by introducing these businesses to new audiences and establishing front-of-mind relevance. It’s a step towards normalising black-owned products in everyday lives.

What is OOH advertising?

Out-of-home advertising (OOH) is any visual advertising media found outside of the home. This can include billboards and signs, ads on street furniture like bus shelters or benches, in transit areas like airports or train stations, and place-based ad media like you might see at a stadium or in the cinema. These various formats account for thousands of locations and millions of screens around the world.

What’s so good about OOH advertising? You can’t miss it! They’re an important vehicle for the big, colourful messages you want to share about your business.

OOH is about brand awareness more than sales: it first and foremost gets people interested in who you are and what you do. Businesses who use it have found that it boosts other marketing channels, such as social media engagement, paid advertising and website traffic.

The campaigns of the selected businesses will run across Clear Channel’s Adshel Live screens. Once winners have been picked, there will be a consultation between them, Clear Channel and Jamii to understand when and where it will be best for their campaigns to run.

What are we looking for in applications?

We will judge all applications along the same criteria:

  • Impact – How would winning the advertising space drive your growth and positively impact your business?
  • Capacity – Do you have the means to appropriately manage the increased interest and/or be able to capitalise on the opportunities it brings?
  • Uniqueness – What makes you different and stand out?

How to apply

Applications are open from 5-18 July. It’s free to enter and your application will be assessed by both the Jamii and Clear Channel teams.

There will be 8 winners, who will be contacted from 8 August. The campaigns will run on a rolling basis from August 2021 to February 2022.

To be eligible, you must be a majority black-owned business.

Winners will also become an official Jamii partner, listed amongst over 250 talented black creators on the Jamii website.

You can supply your own artwork or work with Clear Channel’s Art Department to create the artwork that’s used.

Good luck!
