When Charlotte’s daughter first started school, she began coming home saying she didn’t like her hair, and that she wanted it to be “straight and yellow” instead. As a teacher, Charlotte knew the power of positive role models, and so – along with her ‘mini-CEO’ daughter – she created the black girl doll Biankha And Friends to inspire young girls of colour to be confident and love themselves.
Charlotte wants to show kids that no aspirations are off limits. And the Biankha doll is multifaceted, with outfits that embody both a historical African queen and a future CEO any young girl can aspire to. It’s a self-love journey for everyone.
