AFIA – is the Ghanaian Akan name for our Friday born Queens.
Every Pattern & Colour represents a unique meaning.
The ‘James Town’ print was used to create the ‘AFIA’ kente print swimsuit. James Town is adorned with beautiful artistic locations, culture and stories of Ghana’s distant past.
The colours used to create this pattern include:
– Red which has a political and spiritual association to sacrifice.
– Green, which often represents life, growth and good health.
– Yellow, which represents wealth, royalty and purity.
– Black, associated with mystery, strength & spiritual energy.
All these colours and patterns come together to bring ‘unity in diversity’.
