If you’ve ever tasted the West African popular dish Jollof rice, you’ll understand the love for this quintessential Ghanaian dish. A simple looking yet flavour packed rice which just blows everyone’s mind and gets them hooked. As simple as Jollof rice looks, cooking and getting it right can be a technical nightmare if you don’t have the know how and some tips to hand.
Aftrad Village Kitchen wants you to join its cooking class dubbed ‘THE JOLLOF EXPERIENCE’ to learn the technicalities and tips involved in cooking Jollof rice. At the end of the experience, you’ll be fully equipped to become a Jollof pro.
You’ll be taught be Joana, the founder of Aftrad Village Kitchen. Joana grew up in Ghana in a big family where food and cooking from scratch was the centre of every family occasion. Her wealth of Ghanaian food knowledge comes from these family cooking sessions and herself acquired knowledge and experience over the years.
You’ll be learning from someone who has learnt from experience the technicalities involved in cooking Jollof rice. If you’re new to cooking Jollof rice or struggling with any aspect of the Jollof cooking process, then this class is for you.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN FROM THE CLASS?
This will be a hands on learning class where you’ll learn:
- About the choice cooking equipment,
- About the choice of ingredients,
- The choice of spices to develop the authentic flavour,
- The techniques and step by step process in cooking the dish,
- The tips in sealing your flavours in the dish and cooking to perfection.
As a bonus, you’ll learn how to make some sides to compliment your Jollof rice.
It will be a fun learning session in an atmosphere where you can ask all your questions and get help.
