Rainbow Bakery, Dalston

Uncle John’s Bakery, Tottenham

Uncle John’s Bakery is a Ghanaian specialist bakery built on family recipes handed down for generations. Their handmade breads, cakes and pies are some of the finest north London has ever tasted, and they’re also available for catering events. You can find the iconic Atlantic Bakery in Brixton, and they’ve been serving locals for years in their recognisable red decor just behind the tube station. A black-owned staple of the community, here you can get classic Caribbean baked goods as well as breakfast and dinner.

Cornfield Bakery, Thornton Heath

At Cornfield Bakery, queues around the corner are a weekly occurrence. This long-standing Jamaican-owned spot in Thornton Heath is a favourite amongst the area’s Caribbean community, thanks to its variety of breads and other baked goods from the island.

These Nigerian bakers bring a Lagos delicacy to not one, but two spots south of the river. Agege Bread sells, of course, agege bread, plus other pastries, cakes and breads, and was launched to bring the best of the Nigerian diaspora to London.

First Choice Bakers, Brixton
